About

Our role

If There's Anything That You Want is a listing service and a way for two people to talk. We are not a party to any transaction.

We do not take payment for a listed item, hold money in escrow, pay a seller out, take a commission on a sale, arrange delivery, inspect or authenticate anything, or verify who anyone is. What to buy, what to accept, how to pay, and how to hand the item over are settled between the buyer and the seller.

That is a statement about transactions. It is not a claim that we ignore what happens here: we act on reports, we remove content that breaks the rules, and some obligations — child safety in particular — are not ours to set aside.

If There's Anything That You Want is a personal marketplace. It is not a directory, and it is not a place shoppers browse looking for bargains.

How it works

Every seller gets their own marketplace at an unlisted address, and shares that address with the people they already deal with — neighbors, a club, a congregation, an estate's family, whoever the seller has in mind. A visitor to that address sees that seller's items and nothing else.

An address being unlisted is not the same as being private. Seller and listing pages are public: they can be indexed by search engines, shared by anyone who has the link, and kept in third-party caches after you change or remove them. Do not publish anything you are not willing to have seen on the Internet.

Unlisted means there is deliberately no site-wide browse or search. We do not aggregate sellers, list them, rank them, or show one seller's items alongside another's. Individual seller and listing pages can be found by search engines, and that plus the seller's own link is the entire discovery story.

Talking to a seller

When a buyer and a seller talk here, the conversation travels directly between their two browsers. The messages do not pass through us and we do not store them. Nobody at If There's Anything That You Want can read, retrieve, or produce the contents of a conversation, because no copy of it exists on our side. See our Privacy Policy for what that means in practice.

Two things are possible from a connection being direct. 1) Either person can screenshot, copy, or photograph what is on their own screen, so do not treat a conversation as private or temporary. 2) A direct browser-to-browser connection can reveal network information — including an IP address — to the person on the other end.

What we charge for

We bill sellers for listing capacity only. Every account gets one active listing at no charge, with no payment method on file. Sellers who want more active listings at once pay for the additional slots, not individual listings.

We are never part of the transaction between a buyer and a seller. We do not process payments for goods, hold funds in escrow, pay sellers out, or take a commission on anything that is sold. How a buyer pays a seller is entirely between the two of them.

What may be sold here

Sellers are responsible for their own listings, and may offer only lawful items that the Prohibited Items and Content Policy allows. We do not inspect items, verify sellers, or check that a listing is accurate — read the Marketplace and Safety Disclaimer before you buy from or meet anyone.
